Hi! I’m Katie - mom to two girls, Amity (age 8) and Verity (age 6) and step-mom to two boys, Knox (age 6) and Ford (age 4). When I’m not chasing my own babies...I love photographing yours!
I have been photographing professionally for 10 years now! People describe me as
patient and my artwork as pure, simple, and natural. I aim for authentic posing and natural
editing. Each baby is so unique, pure, and sweet. My hope is to capture that essence and
deliver beautiful art for your family to enjoy for a lifetime. I look forward to meeting you!

Timing
Newborn sessions take place in my Salem studio, almost always between 5-10 days of life. At this time, mom is starting to feel better and baby is still young enough to be sleepy and “curled up.” I pencil in the due dates of my clients who are expecting and, once the baby is born, we finalize our plans and set a time. My newborn sessions are often a bit longer than a typical portrait session, lasting about 2 hours. We follow the baby’s lead with lots of time for soothing, nursing, etc. I try to keep things relaxed and stress-free.
Sleepy baby
A successful newborn session requires a content and sleepy baby. There are numerous ways we accomplish this! The studio will be very warm, and we will work to keep the baby’s tummy full. I will also have un-opened soothie pacifiers for your baby. It’s very important to allow me to use a pacifier for the session, as it is extremely helpful in posing your baby—even if your baby doesn’t normally or won’t be using a pacifier outside of the session.
waRDROBE STYLING
Not sure what to wear for your maternity session? I have lots of robes and dresses at the studio for your use. Schedule a time to come by the studio before your session to pick out what you'd like to wear or plan to arrive a little early to your maternity session. We'll go through the clothes and find something that looks beautiful on you!
Fresh48 Sessions
Having a baby is exhausting, exhilarating, and often becomes a hazy memory as you navigate motherhood with this new little person. Fresh48 sessions aim to capture the emotions you feel during this impactful moment in your life. The session is are documentary in nature. No props or poses, just you and your brand new baby.
When I arrive, I open up all the blinds and tidy up a few items that may be out of place. I usually begin with photos of the baby on their own in the bassinet and then head into parent and family photos. Throughout the session I will be guiding you with simple prompts and will do my best to capture all images within 30-45 minutes, ensuring that the session is as easy and stressfree as possible.

Loose prints must be purchased in conjuction with digital files.
When you order your prints through me, you are ensuring high quality prints to display in your home. The color will be right every time. Loose prints are printed with a beautiful matte finish. Prints 16x16 and larger and mounted on firm backing so they will not bend or wrinkle over time.
Booking
I will have the right to cancel your session date or give it to another client if the session fee is not received within one week after your portrait agreement is e-mailed to you. In the event that you need to reschedule the date, current pricing and my availability to provide services on such date will be reviewed. In the event of a cancellation, your session will be honored for one year.
The first step in booking your portrait experience is to choose which session(s) you would like. Please email me to let me know.
A non-refundable $200 deposit is due on the date that the portrait agreement is signed to reserve your booking. The remaining balance will be due one week before your session. All sessions take place on weekdays, Monday through Friday.
